Leydi Floridalma Menzona González

Leydi Gonzàlez

Leydi Floridalma is a professional who believes that education is the foundation of human development and the key to achieving any goal. A woman of Maya Achí descent, originally from the village of Chiticoy (Rabinal, Baja Verapaz), she attributes her academic success to the example of her mother, who taught her that gender is not a limitation to success.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociolinguistics Applied to Intercultural Bilingual Education from the Universidad Mariano Gálvez and is a teacher trained at ENBI. Her current work focuses on the empowerment of girls in her community, addressing topics such as equity, sexuality, and the revitalization of the Achí language. For Leydi, instilling values of respect for nature, animals, and elders from childhood is fundamental to building a more conscious and independent society.

She currently serves as Coordinator of the Educational Project with Voces y Manos, working with children ages 10 to 12 through agroecological activities such as planting fruit and forest trees, preparing organic fertilizers, cultivating medicinal plants, preparing nutritious dishes, and facilitating educational sessions, among other activities.
